Batavia High School Restoration Project

The goal of this project is to restore a storm water retention pond at Batavia High School. Teachers, Dan Renz and Donna Detrick, along with their environmental science students will be working over the next few years to restore the landscape on the north side of campus.

Students established a buffer zone to slow infiltration to the site, remove invasive species, and learn to plant and care for native species. The restored pond will help filter and improve water quality, provide habitat for wildlife, require less chemical control, and serve as an environmental education site for students.
