The Tree Commission reviews, comments on and drafts policies and regulations related to the public trees. The also review and comment on development and redevelopment plans within the City of Batavia. The commission also coordinates the city's annual Arbor Day festivities, including the annual application for Batavia's Tree City USA designation. The commission also coordinates efforts with counterpart groups in Geneva and St. Charles.
Members serve four-year terms and are appointed by the Mayor. There are two members are employed by the City: the Director of Public Works and the Street Superintendent. The other five members are appointed by the Mayor. These volunteer members must reside in Batavia, must not be employed by the city.
